Step-By-Step Guide

Step 1: Get started

After you’ve downloaded the app from the App Store, locate the app icon on your iPhone and tap it once.

Step 2: Tap on the “Store” button

When you tap the “Store” button, you’re connected to the App Store where you can browse and sample a variety of songs from a wide range of genres. If you’ve already purchased a song or want to work on mixes you already own, proceed to step 4.

Step 3: Sample and purchase a song

At the App Store, you can listen to a 10-second sample of each mix and purchase the song file, which will contain all the different mixes available.

Step 4: Tap on the “My Songs” button

After you purchase a song, you’re delivered back to the home screen, or you can use the arrows at the top left to go back home. Once you’re back home, tap on the “My Songs” button to go to your mixes.

Step 5: My Songs: Choose a song

Here you can view the songs you own. Choose a song you want to hear or work on.

Step 6: My Mixes: Choose a mix

Choose the version or mix of the song you want to hear, including custom mixes you’ve created yourself.

Step 7: The Stage

After you’ve chosen your mix, you’ll be taken to the stage where the band is playing your mix. You can change the mix the band is playing by sliding the mix card below the stage (shown in the larger image).

Step 8: Listen only to one instrument or singer

If you want to isolate a singer or an instrument, tap on any band member and you hear only that track. For example, tap the singer, and you hear only the singer’s vocals.

Step 9: Change instruments

When you isolate an instrument, you can change the musician’s instrument by sliding the cards below the stage. You can also cancel out the music completely by choosing the Cancel Card. For example, tap on the drummer and you can choose different types of drums, like bongos.

Step 10: Record yourself

Here’s where you can add yourself into the band. First, choose the instrument or vocals you want to replace (see previous steps 7-9). Then press the red record button. The song will restart and the lyrics will scroll. For highest fidelity, you can plug your instrument directly into your iPhone or iPod Touch with a Guitarbud cord by PRS and record through the app.

Step 11: Name the track

When you’re finished recording, tap “Done.” Then name and save the track.

Step 12: Choose Avatar

Pick an avatar.

Step 13: Mix in your track

Tap “Start” and your track is mixed directly into the song, not layered on top. You literally become a part of the song.

Step 14: Share with the world

Tap the “Share” button to share your song with others through the Mix Me In online community, Facebook or Twitter.

Step 15: Mix Me In community

Your song is uploaded to the Mix Me In community where you can share your creativity and check out what others are doing.
