The appropriately named The App Band includes Kenny Aronoff, drummer for John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, and John Fogerty, Chris Chaney, bassist for Jane’s Addictin, Alanis Morrisette, Slash, and Tommy Lee, Phil Xenidis, guitarist for Kelly Clarkson and Daughtry, Roger Manning, keyboardist for Beck and Jellyfish, and sensational singer Steve Bertrand.

The band spends an extraordinary amount of time in getting the original or most popular version exactly right. The band’s meticulous attention to detail means they’ll laboriously dissect a song to determine, among other nuances, which type of pick Squeeze’s guitarist used on the song “Tempted.” Listen to the song, and you’ll be amazed at the similarity of the sounds.

Once the most popular version is nailed, the band explores alternate versions for each song, creating, for example a hip hop, country, and acoustic mix. Ever wonder what Kenny Chesney’s “Big Star” would sound like as a piano-only mix? Well, now you can own it along with the country, acoustic and coffee-house version.

What’s the band recording currently?

It remains a mystery until the rights are approved. However, they will say it’s a blockbuster deal with one of the most famous artist on the music scene today. And the Mix Me In user will enjoy the artist’s original versions as well.
